Ski World Cup celebrates Sölden kick-off with fan comeback

5,000 fans are allowed to attend the races

The Ski World Cup is just around the corner! From today's perspective, the kick-off in Sölden will take place in front of 5,000 fans.

The past World Cup winter had to do without spectators, now the mood is on the slopes again. Nevertheless, one remains a little cautious in Sölden.

Piste manager Isidor Grüner explains the situation: “As of today we have no distance rules and no spectator restrictions, only have 3G and contact tracing to fulfill. So from today's perspective we could also make a full house.”

The ÖSV requirements currently only allow 5,000 spectators per race day (23 and 24 October). “Then we'll see what happens. We can add more at any time, but maybe it's enough anyway,” said Grüner in an interview with APA.

The event should be financially worthwhile despite the restrictions: “With 5,000 we are also out of the red, everything above is a plus.”

While tickets are already being sold for Sölden, they are still waiting in Kitzbühel. Michael Huber, President of the Kitzbühel Ski Club reveals: “Of course we plan with spectators. In this regard, we are only passengers, we do not have the handlebars in our hands.”
