by alex

Production operations will be suspended from the end of November until the end of February, according to the company.

From next week, the machines in the factory of the ski manufacturer Blizzard in Mittersill (Pongau) will be at a standstill. The ORF quotes the company as saying that demand has fallen by 25 percent.

In the previous year, around 400,000 pairs of skis were produced and delivered in Mittersill, said Blizzard managing director Helmut Exenberger to ORF – this year there are a good 100,000 fewer pairs. The last copies are currently being produced. Production will cease at the end of November. First vacation would be consumed, from about December 20th the company will “go into a short-time working period”, explains Exenberger.

From mid-January there will be a three-day week. With short-time working, production can be ramped up again within a very short time if demand increases, according to Exenberger. Short-time work affects around 220 employees.
