Russian gymnast Alexandra Soldatova believes that the time has come for sisters Arina and Dina Averin to leave the sport. Sport24 reports her words.
Soldatova expressed doubt that the athletes will be able to take part in the Games in Paris. She recalled that the Averina sisters were ready to end their careers even before it became known about the transfer of the Olympics to Tokyo. “It seems to me that we need to give way to the young,” Soldatova voiced such an appeal.
Earlier, the sisters of Averina were interviewed by People Talk. The Russians refused to set goals for 2022 in sports.
In November, Dina Averina announced that she admits the end of her career. At the time of the Games in Paris, the sisters will be 26 years old.
At the Tokyo Olympics, Dina Averina won silver, losing to Lina Ashram from Israel. Arina Averina finished fourth. The Russian side filed several protests against the judges' assessments during and after the competition, but this did not affect the distribution of seats.
