Silent Russian submarine scares US experts
Russian submarines of the Lada project pose a great danger due to their absolute noiselessness. As NSN writes with reference to the data of American analysts, this is provided by the latest power plant.
The Americans consider the Russian submarine so silent that it is almost impossible to notice its approach. This is ensured by the drop-shaped shape of the Lada's hull and its outstanding aerodynamic characteristics: the boat is not subject to turbulence and does not create noticeable noise.
Another factor that ensures the quietness of submarines of this type is called a hydrogen-oxygen fuel cell, which generates electricity for the propellers. Electricity in “Lada” is generated, among other things, through a chemical reaction. This, in turn, avoids “clanging” engine noise, experts say. Diesel-electric “Lada” can be quieter even than some nuclear submarines.
As previously reported, the repair of the nuclear submarine AS-31 (Losharik) in Severodvinsk will take up to four years. This period was indicated by sources in the military-industrial complex.
