Warsaw begins preparing the first Ukrainian brigade.
Several thousand people have already registered to participate in the Ukrainian Legion in Poland – a new volunteer military unit.
This was stated by Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski at the NATO Public Forum event, Interfax-Ukraine reports.
According to him, his country is beginning to prepare the first Ukrainian brigade, consisting of volunteers in Poland. By the way, the diplomat emphasized that there are up to a million Ukrainians of both sexes in the Republic.
“Several thousand of them have already registered to participate in this prize. What is interesting is that many of them really want to serve and rotate their compatriots. But they say that they do not want to be sent into battle without being properly trained and equipped,” he noted. Sikorski.
Sikorski says that Warsaw will train and equip the volunteers so that they can be provided to Ukraine as a unit with the right to return to Poland after rotation.
“If every European country did this, Ukraine would have several brigades,” the Polish Foreign Minister emphasized.
As reported, Polish Minister of National Defense Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz said that Poland will shoot down Russian missiles over Ukraine only in one case – if there is a decision by NATO as a whole.
