Epidemiologist Alexander Gorelov revealed signs of a severe course of coronavirus in children. The deputy director for scientific work of the FBSI Central Research Institute of Epidemiology of Rospotrebnadzor, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences told RIA Novosti.
According to him, parents should seek medical help if the child has shortness of breath or fever lasts more than three days. So, these symptoms are the reason for radiography, changes on which may indicate the development of complications, including multi-inflammatory syndrome.
In addition, the specialist recommends to closely monitor the appearance of a rash on the child's body, since this sign may indicate the addition of Kawasaki syndrome. At the same time, according to Gorelov, special attention should not be paid to a runny nose, although it is still necessary to treat it.
The expert also explained that in most cases, the coronavirus is relatively easy in a child compared to adults. According to him, an analysis of the data for the year indicates that only 0.2 percent of children are faced with a severe form.
Earlier, Gorelov assessed the possibility of using Russian vaccines against coronavirus for children. He stated that all three domestic vaccines will be used in pediatrics. At the same time, the specialist emphasized that the children's dose will be different from the adult.
