Signs of schizophrenia seen in Biden's politics

In the policies of the new US President Joe Biden, “signs of schizophrenia” are visible. This opinion was expressed by the Polish professor-Americanist Grzegorz Gorski, reports Radio Szczecin.

According to the rector of the Jagiellonian College, such manifestations are clearly visible in the issue of relations between the United States and Germany. “On the one hand, we hear abuse, since Germany is building a gas pipeline together with Russia and wants to provide itself with an alternative. On the other hand, he [Biden] invites the Germans to cooperate, ”Gorski stressed.

The professor added that the return of Washington to a close alliance with Berlin may result in the fact that Nord Stream 2 will be completed, and American relations with Moscow will improve. At the same time, he points out that the first statements and actions of the democrats in the international arena cause concern. “This is complete confusion and confusion, it is impossible to say anything for sure about any direction of [US] policy,” Gorski said.

On January 26, White House spokeswoman Jen Psaki said the US “still believes the president continues to believe that Nord Stream 2 is a bad deal for Europe.” She also added that the new administration will deal with sanctions against the project – “will study” the restrictions already imposed.

The US imposed new sanctions against the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline under construction on January 19. They touched upon the pipelayer Fortuna, its owner, KBT-Rus, and the Rustanker company. Also, the ship “Maxim Gorky” fell under restrictive measures.

Commissioning of Nord Stream 2 was planned for late 2020 or early 2021. We are currently talking about the summer of 2021. On January 19, Washington, for the first time since the fight against the gas pipeline, realized the threat and imposed sanctions on the project. However, Berlin continues to insist that Nord Stream 2 is an exclusively economic project.
