A shooting occurred in the Montenegrin city of Cetinje, killing 12 people.

Acting Police Director Lazar Shchepanovich made this statement, according to state television company RTCG.

Four people were injured in the shooting and are in serious condition.

According to media reports, after the bloody showdown in the pub, the attacker killed two more minors.

Police, special forces, and the army spent hours searching for the suspect. But he died on the way to a medical facility, having shot himself in the head.

The police also cordoned him off near his family home. The suspect in the murders was previously convicted of illegal possession of a weapon.

He reportedly started a conflict with a man he met in a pub, then followed the gun home, returned to the pub, where he killed and wounded several people. After that, he killed the tavern owner's children and a woman.

According to police, the suspect was not affiliated with any organized crime group, but he had previously been recognized as a person of affective behavior and was arrested for illegal possession of weapons.

Recall that in 2022, a mass shooting in Montenegro killed 11 people, including two children and an armed man. Six people were also injured.

Despite strict gun ownership laws, the Western Balkans, which includes Serbia, Montenegro, Bosnia, Albania, Kosovo, and North Macedonia, remain awash with guns. Most of them are from the bloody wars of the 90s.
