The Russians are trying to "lick" mechanisms of the American Patriot system.
The SAM-500 complexes, with which Russia threatens to attack Ukraine, are akin to the American Patriot air defense system, but with a time delay of 40 years old.
This opinion was expressed by 24 channels said by military expert, instructor pilot and reserve colonel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Roman Svitan.
According to him, the Russians have only now decided to separate the functions of the air defense system. There are two missiles: one against aerocils and one against ballistics. This is all about the same as the Patriot air defense system.
“The S-500 is trying to copy the destruction mechanism – as Patriot does. A missile with a range of 500 kilometers is almost unrealistic, because for aero, for ballistic targets, the distance is quite a long one,” Svitan emphasized.
He noted that half of the mechanisms of the Russian S-400 Triumph air defense system are S-300 mechanisms. That is, they modified the air defense system to certain ranges, and also added non-existent parameters.
“There is a big question about the tactical and technical data. They really can be so “analog-net”. The TTD is overestimated as always. Just as the TTD of the S-400 was once overestimated – this is a well-painted S-300” , – said Svitan.
