Moscow. August 6. INTERFAX.RU – Robotics and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) intended for war have become a powerful weapon that significantly affects the conduct of hostilities and requires new approaches in the training of specialists, said Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu.
“There are attack drones. There are many of them – different. Drones have appeared that operate not at a distance of 200-300 kilometers, but for thousands of kilometers. They are equipped with weapons operating at a distance of 500 kilometers, and there are more,” Shoigu said on Friday at meeting with the staff of the Krasnoyarsk Machine-Building Plant (“Krasmash”).
Another important factor that significantly affects the conduct of hostilities, the minister called robotic technology.
“We have created a robotics center because combat robots have appeared, which 10 years ago could only be seen in films, and even then in the fantastic. And today it is already a reality,” Shoigu said.
At the same time, he noted that new types of weapons require significant adjustments in curricula in military universities to train specialists in the appropriate profile.
“We started training specialists for unmanned aviation five five years ago. During this time, drones have become a serious force, a very big threat to the enemy. on this technique, “Shoigu said.
As for robotics, according to Shoigu, more than 300 new programs have been created to train specialized specialists, other changes and additions have been made to the curriculum.
“And this applies to absolutely all professions that are in the Armed Forces,” the Minister of Defense emphasized.
He also noted that a thorough analysis of global trends in a particular area helps to make proactive decisions.
“We are very attentively looking at the world trends in the development of not just science and education, we are watching the development of technologies, what is being used and done in the armies of other countries. And, of course, taking into account the large-scale and very rapid development of digitalization, with the advent of artificial intelligence, we are making adjustments to our curricula, training new specialists, “Shoigu said.
