Moscow. October 6. INTERFAX.RU – The development of new forms and methods of warfare became the basis of the Russian-Belarusian strategic exercise “West-2021”, some samples of weapons, including strike robots, were used for the first time, said Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu.
On Wednesday, summing up the results of the exercises, he noted that for the first time an airborne battalion on modern BMD-4M had landed at night under adverse weather conditions.
“21 Il-76MD aircraft of the military transport aviation have dropped more than 30 units of new-generation airborne assault vehicles,” Shoigu said.
Military topographers tested the capabilities of the Kaleidoscope unified software system. “It made it possible to create a three-dimensional image of a virtual combat space, thereby assessing the situation more accurately and significantly reducing the time for decision-making by the command,” the minister said.
According to him, unmanned aerial vehicles were actively involved in the effective adjustment of fire, as well as in the interests of reconnaissance units.
“The remote disabling of the so-called” flock “of attack unmanned aerial vehicles of the imaginary enemy has been successfully worked out,” Shoigu said.
He noted that the strike robotic systems “Platform-M” were used for the first time at the training grounds near Kaliningrad.
“Remotely controlled robots on a tracked chassis have shown good results when performing tasks to destroy the manpower of a simulated enemy in urban conditions. In addition, at the Mulino training ground ( Nizhny Novgorod region – IF ), reconnaissance and fire support robots” Uran- 9 “and Nerekhta,” the Defense Minister said.
“Practical actions of military command and control bodies and troops were practiced at five Belarusian and nine Russian training grounds. The Baltic Fleet forces were solving combat training tasks in the waters of the Baltic Sea and the Gulf of Finland,” the minister said.
