Shin reamed, season-out for ÖSV downhill woman

Bitter news from the ÖSV. Speed talent Lisa Grill has to write off the season before it starts.

Serious setback for ÖSV downhill skier Lisa Grill. The 21-year-old fell badly in the finish area when she won the European Cup in Santa Caterina and suffered a broken shin. Now it is clear: the injury is more protracted and more complicated than expected.

The pain didn't go away. The shin did not grow together properly. Now the Salzburg woman told the “Krone” that she had to go under the knife again.

Grill about her operation in mid-September: “That's why the shin was reamed and a new, shorter intramedullary nail was inserted.”

The coming ski season is over for her: “The next goal is to be able to walk pain-free. Only then can I slowly start training so that I can fully start again next season.”

Grill is a three-time runner-up in the junior world championship. Last year she won three European Cup races and the overall ranking in the downhill.
