20 women who have reported NFL quarterback Deshaun Watson for sexual harassment and assault have now given their names. Previously, only the names of two women were publicly known. As ESPN reported, another lawsuit was filed against the Houston Texans quarterback on Wednesday (local time). Watson denies the allegations.
Previously, one of the 22 lawsuits originally filed against Watson had been “for the time being” dropped by a plaintiff during the week. “In view of privacy and security concerns, the plaintiff has decided not to pursue her case for the time being,” said the court document, as reported by ESPN. “The plaintiff reserves the right to clarify this case again as soon as such concerns have been resolved.”
One woman had previously made public statements. In addition, a lawyer read the letter from a second woman. The 25-year-old Watson is accused in the lawsuits of, among other things, exploiting private massages, verbally asking women to engage in sexual acts and touching them immorally. Watson's attorney had recently published statements from 18 women who worked with his client and stated that he had never behaved wrongly towards them.
