On the eve of the New Year, Russians often want to complete everything, so they overexert themselves, get exhausted and meet the first day of the calendar rather devastated than joyful, said clinical psychologist Inna Makarova, writes Podmoskovye Today.

According to her, it's all about the cognitive perception of the change of dates in the calendar, because of which “superstitions” are turned on before the holidays. For example, people believe that one should not enter the new year with old debts. Because of this, “they are struggling, trying to finish everything by the evening of the last day of the year.” She recalled that it is impossible to physically cope with the “rammed” and accumulated cases for a year in a few weeks.

The expert advised to sort all tasks according to their importance and urgency. “The highest priority should be done first, and the rest may well wait, even if you have to take on it already next year,” she revealed the secrets of avoiding emotional burnout.

The psychologist advised on the holidays to please not only friends and family, but also yourself. Her colleague Alexandra Metalnikova added that in the pre-holiday bustle, you need to consciously plan things. “Is everything that you want to do now really help you get into the state in which you want to celebrate the New Year?” She added.

Earlier, psychologists said that single people on New Year's Eve should fulfill their desires, listen to themselves.
