Byung Hwi Soo
The first transgender South Korean soldier to be discharged from the army after secret gender reassignment has been found dead. This was reported by the ABC TV channel.
The body of 23-year-old Byung Hwi Soo was found at her home in Cheongju City. No cause of death has been reported.
Byung Hwi Soo joined the army as a man and rose to the rank of sergeant. She suffered from depression caused by gender identity issues and secretly changed her gender while on vacation in Thailand. After the operation, Hwi Soo hoped to continue serving with other female soldiers, but she was fired from the army and her application for reinstatement was rejected.
Earlier it was reported that British midwives in Brighton and Sussex will be banned from using the word “mother” and other words related exclusively to the female sex when discussing maternity issues with patients. The new language policy for medical institutions is designed to protect the feelings of transgender people.
