Sylvain Lefebvre
In the NHL, the second assistant coach has already been dismissed from his team because he decided against the mandatory corona vaccination.
Sylvain Lefebvre has lost his job as assistant coach for Columbus Blue Jackets. The 53-year-old does not want to be vaccinated against the corona virus.
Such a vaccination is mandatory for the season of the North American ice hockey league NHL, which starts on October 12th. So Columbus didn't have a chance. General Manager Jarmo Kekäläinen: “We are disappointed, but we respect that this is a personal decision for Sylvain and wish him all the best. According to NHL protocol, he cannot do the job we hired him to do.”
Lefebvre is not the first coach to whom a no to prick costs his job. Before him, Rocky Thompson, also an assistant coach, had to leave the San Jose Sharks. Explosive: Thompson could not get vaccinated for medical reasons. However, no exception was made for him.
The overwhelming majority of the players are vaccinated. There is no compulsory vaccination for them. However, unvaccinated people are only allowed to play under strict rules. For example, you even have to expect a suspension if you contract Corona because you then endanger others.
