It's amazing how inventive scientists can be on the way to accomplishing certain good deeds. For example, Swiss specialists intend to send stem cells of four real people into space to grow new organs.
This is due to the fact that it was at the International Space Station (ISS) that researchers were able to achieve optimal gravitational conditions for this, writes RIA Novosti. As a result, according to the available experience, stem cells will turn into structures that will resemble real organs, but at a reduced size.
It is reported that the cells are already prepared for growing miniature artificial human organelles from them. At the same time, astronauts will monitor them and maintain them in good condition.
It is expected that the organs obtained as a result of “space cultivation” will be used to test new drugs. This should eliminate animal experimentation, making the process more humane.
