British scientists talked about the consequences of a lack of vitamin D in the body. This is reported by Express.
It is noted that a deficiency of this vitamin can lead to osteomalacia (a systemic disease characterized by insufficient mineralization of bone tissue – approx. “Lenta.ru” ). According to doctors, in the early stages, the disease can develop imperceptibly. It can only be detected using X-rays or diagnostic studies.
The researchers noted that a lack of vitamin D can cause aching pain in the pelvis, lower back, legs, hips and ribs. Pathology is dangerous for the elderly, as it leads to fractures and osteoporosis.
Earlier, researchers from Boston University School of Medicine found that among patients infected with coronavirus with normal levels of vitamin D in the blood, there are significantly fewer serious cases and deaths. Adequate vitamin D can help prevent complications such as cytokine storms.
