A group of scientists from the Federal University of São Paulo compared the sleep patterns of centenarians and young people. For the study, polysomnography (neurophysiological examination of the patient during sleep) and electroencephalography (examination of the brain) were used.
Experts have come to the conclusion that regular and quality sleep improves blood cholesterol levels and reduces the risk of cardiovascular diseases. The research results were published in Frontiers in Aging Neuroscience .
