Scientists: Swimming Improves Brain Function
Researchers from the American University of Mardi Hardin-Baylor have shown that swimming improves the cognitive ability of the brain. This is reported by The Conversation magazine.
To prove this, scientists conducted an experiment involving laboratory mice. The rodents swam for about an hour every day. After that, they were launched into a labyrinth, where they had to do a memorization exercise.
It was found that swimming suppresses inflammation in the hippocampus and stops cell death. In addition, this type of physical activity improves long-term memory and reduces the cognitive effects of aging. For these indicators, swimming is superior to running or cycling.
Previously, scientists have proven that people become stupid after suffering a coronavirus. MIR 24 found out how covid affects cognitive abilities and functions.
