According to research, damage to the retina is one of the most common causes of blindness. Danio rerios can restore it in just a week. A chemical in their brains sets in motion cells that “migrate” to damaged organs, repairing them.
According to scientists, about 70 percent of the genes of these fish are similar to humans, which means, scientists hope, a person will one day be able to do the same.
Earlier it was reported that Russian doctors saved a patient suffering from cataract myopia, which developed up to minus 45 diopters, from blindness. An artificial lens with a “minus” diopter lens was implanted into the Russian citizen. She was able to fully compensate for extreme myopia and correctly distribute the “image” in the depth of the lengthened eye.
