American researcher Sangeeta Abdu Jyoti predicted internet problems due to solar flares. So, according to her, this phenomenon will lead to the fact that humanity will be left without satellite Internet and global positioning systems.
It is noted that solar flares, which are characterized by coronal ejections, are one of the most powerful transient phenomena in the solar system. Scientists admit that this phenomenon is very rare – science knows about three cases, and all of them occurred before the era of the Internet. At the same time, after three decades of low solar activity, there are still risks of occurrence.
Assistant Professor at the University of California at Irvine Sangeeta Abdu Jyoti decided to study how these solar flares will affect humanity. It turned out that there is something to worry about – most of all they threaten the underwater Internet highways that connect entire countries. According to her conclusions, the phenomenon is fraught with the failure of all equipment in the earth's orbit, which, in turn, will lead to a global shutdown of satellite Internet and global positioning systems.
