Moreover, if earlier it was thought that the virus was spread in areas with a lot of fruits, now this is not a prerequisite. Scientists say that outbreaks can occur in any part of Southeast Asia.
The Nipah virus can provoke brain inflammation or respiratory illness. The disease is transmitted to people who ate fruit with the saliva of an infected animal. The infection does not pass from person to person as easily as, for example, coronavirus, but the virus strain in bats can change.
There is no cure or vaccine for this disease, the mortality rate is 90 percent.
