Scientists have revealed the connection between sunlight and passion for love
Scientists from Israel have discovered the dependence of sex drive and sunlight. The more a person is in the sun, the higher his level of sex hormones rises, the result of their research was published in the journal Cell Report .
Tel Aviv University researchers studied the performance of mice that were exposed to ultraviolet rays. It turned out that the females had a dramatic increase in hormone levels, and their ovaries had increased. The males also had increased hormone levels.
Then the scientists examined the data from the questionnaires of 32 people. In them, people answered questions about romantic attraction and aggression. Both men and women showed increased sexual desire under the influence of sunlight, while men showed increased levels of testosterone and aggression.
The researchers concluded that the p53 protein, which protects the skin from ultraviolet radiation, is responsible for these changes. When this protein was removed from mice, their increased attraction subsided. Experts believe that this defense mechanism affects the endocrine system and sexual desire.
Recall that in 2020, American scientists discovered a gene in the brain of men that controls sexual desire. And this year, experts from Japan discovered the effect of the hormone oxytocin on male sexuality.
