A year ago, scientists at the State University of New York at Buffalo showed that they could grow a chimeric embryo with mouse and human cells. The authors of this paper have now published a detailed description of the method so that other researchers can repeat it.
Instructions for creating mouse embryos with human cells have been published in the journal Nature Protocols. “This article will allow many scientists to use this new platform to study human diseases of interest,” said one of the authors of the work.
The description of the method will allow scientists to create animal models that will show a very realistic picture of the embryonic development of an organism. Someday it will help you understand how to deal with certain human diseases.
The use of the method also makes it possible to track the development of human stem cells in a chimeric embryo in real time.
