Scientists have proven the ability of dogs to feel jealous

New Zealand scientists from the University of Auckland have found that dogs can feel jealous. They have shown empirically that pets worry when their owners pay attention to other animals, according to a study published in the journal Psychological Science .

Scientists conducted an experiment involving 18 dogs and their owners. They were divided into two groups, one of which was given fleece cylinders as auxiliary items, and the other – realistic toys in the form of dogs.

In the course of the study, experts noted signs of jealousy in pets when their owners played with dog dolls. And in the case of the cones, the test subjects showed almost no emotion.

Scientists also noted the reaction of dogs when an impenetrable screen separated them from toys. At the same time, it became clear that pets feel jealous precisely in cases when a person interacts with a “rival”.

We will remind, in January, scientists from Hungary said that dogs can quickly remember the names of objects, if they are called and shown these things. And in February it was proved that dogs are able to distinguish their bodies from other objects and to be aware of its boundaries.
