Scientists at the University of Louisiana in the United States have found traces of a giant devastating tsunami that caused the final death of the dinosaurs. This is reported by Science Alert.
The tsunami was reportedly triggered by an asteroid impact. At a depth of 1,500 meters, scientists found prints of a mega-bubble that was left after a giant wave. They found all this in seismic images of the central part of Louisiana. The mega-swell is reported to be directed towards Chicxulub crater in the Yucatan Peninsula.
By simulating a wave that could leave such traces, scientists came to the conclusion that it should have been 1,500 meters high, and the earthquake would have reached 11 points on the Richter scale.
The consequences of such a cataclysm were devastating for both marine microorganisms and land. This megatsunami, according to experts, continued for several days.
Previously, Rambler reported that a terrible catastrophe on Earth happened because of Siberia.
