The evidence both in favor of the theory of the artificial origin of the coronavirus and in favor of the theory of its natural origin is indirect, therefore it is still impossible to reject both hypotheses. Alexei Agranovsky, professor of Moscow State University, Doctor of Biological Sciences, told RBC about this, commenting on an article published on May 28 in the British newspaper Daily Mail, which provides “evidence” of the creation of COVID-19 in the laboratory.
“Clarity could come if China provided laboratory journals and other materials that would provide a comprehensive answer to the tasks of the Wuhan Institute of Virology. The Chinese side is in no hurry with this, ”explains Agranovsky.
According to him, the SARS CoV-2 spike protein contains elements that other related coronaviruses do not have, and this is used as evidence in favor of laboratory removal of the virus. At the same time, the scientist clarifies that even indirect evidence in favor of the theory of the artificial origin of COVID-19 can be explained by the ability of viruses to rebuild and change during natural evolution during the transition from one host to another.
The fact that for the occurrence of COVID-19 would be enough natural way was said by RBC and infectious disease specialist, Doctor of Medical Sciences Nikolai Malyshev.
“There are a huge number of viruses, many of them are from the east, from southeast Asia, where it is humid and warm. There, various changes in the RNA and DNA of the virus can actively occur, which leads to the emergence of some new pathogens, ”explains Malyshev.
On May 28, the Daily Mail published a study by British scientist Angus Dalglish and Norwegian Brieger Sørensen, who found “evidence” for the creation of coronavirus in a Chinese laboratory. Virologists analyzed samples of COVID-19 and found “unique traces” that the virus could only arise as a result of human intervention.
According to Dalglish and Sorensen, Chinese scientists have tried to make a natural virus more infectious in order to study its effects on humans. To do this, the Chinese added a new thorn to the main virus that bats carried.
Previously, the laboratory origin of COVID-19 was announced in the United States. In particular, the former President of the country Donald Trump, as well as a number of members of Congress, accused Chinese scientists of creating the virus.
