A factor in the development of anorexia can be not only psychological reasons, but also the composition of the intestinal microflora. Scientists have found that in people with anorexia, the composition of the microflora is less diverse than in healthy people. This unexpected reason is evidenced by a study by biologists from the University of Oxford, it was published in the scientific journal Frontiers in Psychiatry.
Scientists conducted an experiment: they cleaned the intestines of mice from bacteria, and then transplanted the microflora of a patient with anorexia into them. As a result, the animals began to gain weight much more slowly, became anxious and impulsive. Moreover, those mice, which were transplanted with the microflora of healthy people, demonstrated normal behavior.
Biologists expressed the hope that in the future the disease can be prevented by cleansing the human body of bacteria and transplanting the microflora of healthy people into them.
Earlier it was reported that an Armenian citizen died of anorexia in the Moscow region. She was fond of diets from her university years, considering herself complete. As a result, the woman began to weigh 45 kilograms with a height of 170 centimeters. A 35-year-old Armenian woman died of cardiac arrest after coming out of the shower.
