Scientists have compared the risks of thrombosis after coronavirus and vaccination

by alex

Scientists from several universities in the UK have found that the risk of thrombosis after suffering a coronavirus is higher than after vaccination. They made the corresponding conclusions after examining the data of almost 30 million people vaccinated from December 1, 2020 to April 24, 2021.

Thrombosis is a dangerous condition in which a blood clot blocks all or part of a vein. The detachment of a blood clot and its entry into the bloodstream into the heart can lead to a heart attack. Once in the brain, the clot causes a stroke.

As the scientists found out, within 28 days after the AstraZeneca vaccination, cases of venous thromboembolism were detected in 66 people out of 10 million. With coronavirus, the risk of thrombosis is much higher – its symptoms were found in 12,614 people out of 10 million. This is reported in the British Medical Journal. Thus, the risk of thrombotic complications in people who have recovered is much higher than in people who have been vaccinated.

As the website kp.ru previously wrote, a new vaccine against coronavirus has been registered in Russia. It is developed on the basis of peptide antigens for the prevention of COVID-19. Its developer is the Vector Center of Rospotrebnadzor.
