Scientists explain reluctance to have sex before Christmas

Scientists at Stanford University in California have identified a pattern between the onset of the holidays and the decline in sexual activity among couples from Catholic countries. Writes about this The Guardian.

The researchers analyzed data from the app for tracking the health of half a million women and noted that the number of sexual acts dropped sharply between December 22 and Catholic Christmas on December 25. However, with the start of the launch of fireworks on a festive night, a reverse surge was recorded, which lasted for several days. A similar situation developed on the eve of Easter, and on Valentine's Day and New Year's, sexual activity, on the contrary, increased.

According to scientists, this behavior is associated with pre-holiday chores and stress from the process of choosing gifts. Excessive consumption of holiday food and alcohol was another factor.

Earlier, scientists from the University of Coventry and the University of Oxford concluded that sexual activity contributes to the prolongation of youth, including preventing the development of senile dementia and other intellectual problems. The study involved 73 people (28 men and 45 women) aged 50 to 83 years.
