Scientists: COVID-19 manifests itself differently in men and women
Men and women suffer from different symptoms of the coronavirus. This was discovered by scientists at King's College London, having studied the data of about 38 thousand infected adults, reports FAN.
In the stronger sex, the disease occurs more often with shortness of breath, fatigue, chills and fever. Women mostly complain of loss of smell, chest pain and persistent coughing. In addition, it turned out that patients with coronavirus over 60 years of age suffer more from diarrhea than from loss of odors. According to scientists, the study was carried out on the original strain of the virus that appeared in Chinese Wuhan, as well as on the British alpha version. However, it can already be assumed that the symptoms of any new strains will differ in different populations.
Earlier, the director of the therapeutic clinic and head of the department of therapy, clinical pharmacology and emergency medical care at the Moscow State Medical University named after Evdokimov, Professor Arkady Vertki, named the main diseases that arise after coronavirus. According to him, the spectrum of the manifestation of postcoid syndrome is wide: problems with the skin, gastrointestinal tract, pain in muscles and joints, increased fatigue. The most serious complications include heart problems – myocarditis, arrhythmia, heart failure, and myocardial infarction.
