Scientists believe that “impossible” heat will soon come on Earth

by alex

Humanity will soon expect an “impossible” heat on the entire Earth. At least, this is the opinion of British and Dutch scientists: in their opinion, the planet has already crossed the threshold at which a slight warming can lead to an extreme rise in temperatures, according to Sky News.

Weather experts from World Weather Attribution cite an example of an absolute temperature record in Canadian history – + 49.6 C, at the end of June this temperature was recorded in Lytton, located 260 kilometers northeast of Vancouver. It was the heat wave that caused the wildfires in the Canadian province of British Columbia.

Scientists say that such heat for this region is an extremely rare event, it happens almost once every thousand years. According to experts, if not for global warming, this would happen even less often.

“It is possible that today we are witnessing extreme heat, which was expected with a much greater warming of the climate,” said a scientist from the University of Oxford Frederick Otto.

According to his colleague, a specialist at the Royal Netherlands Meteorological Institute Sukier Philippe, in the future such heat will be on Earth much more often, although it was “impossible” before. Experts came to the conclusion that if by 2040 the average annual temperature on the planet rises by only 2 C, then cataclysms, like in Canadian Lytton, will repeat every five to ten years.

We will remind, as the website kp.ru wrote, it was previously reported that due to the abnormal heat in Canada, at least 486 people could have died.

At the same time, Vladimir Semyonov, deputy director of the Obukhov Institute of Atmospheric Physics of the Russian Academy of Sciences, said that in Russia, due to warming, the continentality of the climate is gradually decreasing. In a few dozen children, snow in winter on the territory of our country can become a real anomaly.
