Energy resources on earth, including oil, taking into account the active economic activity of man, may disappear in half a century. Such a term was named by the President of the Southern Technological University of China and a member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences Xue Qikun, RIA Novosti reports with reference to the Chinese edition of The Paper.
According to the scientist, over the past 250 years, it is thanks to the expansion of the extraction of fossil energy sources that three technological revolutions have occurred.
He stressed that a person will have to look for alternative resources in the next 50 years. We are talking, for example, about solar energy, which, according to the expert, is almost impossible to exhaust. At the same time, coal and natural gas can be replaced with hydrogen fuel, said Tsikun.
Back in the fall of 2020, British energy company BP predicted the end of the era of constant oil demand. In its annual energy forecast, the company modeled three scenarios for the world's transition to cleaner fuels, which involve phasing out or phasing out oil.
