Loss of smell and taste can occur in both patients with covid-19 and those who have already had it. Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Alexander Chuchalin, in an interview with kp.ru, spoke about which organs are most often affected after coronavirus infection.

According to the specialist, the liver, kidneys and pancreas are among the main organs that received the “blow” from the covid.

– The liver suffers. There is a rapidly progressive fibrosis in it, that is, healthy liver cells are replaced by connective tissue. Today, fibrosis is irreversible, the organ loses its ability to work fully, – said the scientist.

As for the pancreas, after the damage to this organ with covid-19 is underestimated, since this organ suffers from fibrosis.

“In addition, the kidneys, spleen and other organs can be affected,” the specialist explained.

Also, the expert Chuchalin added that the doctors have already had a diagnosis of “postcoid myocarditis”.
