The Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation has developed a concept for an experiment to introduce a digital profile of a student, which will start when enrolling in a kindergarten or school and will contain an electronic portfolio of the child with all his achievements, the Kommersant newspaper reported on Tuesday.
According to the concept, the digital profile of the student will be mandatory, it will contain information “necessary for identification in the educational process.” It is assumed that the system will use information from the current registers of executive authorities and state information systems, and requests to various systems will be made using anonymized identifiers.
This concept, which involves conducting an experiment by the end of 2022, was prepared on behalf of the profile Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko and in April entered the Ministry of Digital Science for study.
Maria Grigorieva, Managing Director of Accenture Technology in Russia, believes that such a system will eliminate fraud, but, in her opinion, it is important that children are not ranked based on the system even in elementary school, as their potential may manifest much later.
Anton Zykov, partner of Deloitte in the CIS, questioned the feasibility of creating a system with all the child's assessments, starting with the first grade.
Oleg Blinov, a teacher at Moscow Digital School, fears that the “fantastic amount of data” about children, including information about their attendance and grades, in the event of a leak could be used to deceive children, including social engineering.
Director General of the Institute for Internet Research Karen Ghazaryan believes that it is difficult to calculate the cost of creating such a system, but, in his opinion, it can reach a billion rubles.
