The German Chancellor believes that the future US President will “not give up on Ukraine”.

US President-elect Donald Trump seeks to end the war in Ukraine and understands that this can only be done when Ukraine is strong.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said this in an interview with the German publication t-online, answering a question about his recent telephone conversation with the American leader.

He did not recount the details of his conversation with Trump, but noted that American policy towards Ukraine would be coordinated with Europe and Germany in particular.

“I am quite confident that, despite some concerns, we will be able to achieve a coordinated policy towards Ukraine between the US and Europe, as well as between the US and Germany,” Scholz said.

The German Chancellor believes that Trump “will not give up Ukraine”.

“Trump wants to end the war. And I have the impression that he, like us, is convinced that this can only be achieved with the military strength of Ukraine,” he said.

Olaf Scholz emphasized that he had already spoken twice with the future US president and had come to an agreement with him that the US and Europe should closely coordinate their actions.

“Later, security guarantees for Ukraine will also be discussed. “Germany will also play an important role here,” he noted.

Recall that German Chancellor Olaf Scholz does not object to another telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin, since he believes that this will allow him to end his war of conquest against Ukraine.
