The Chancellor will comply with his preliminary criteria for arms supplies to Ukraine.
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said he is against the expansion zones of action of Western weapons in the war in Ukraine, in particular, for attacks on Russian territory.
He said this during a public dialogue in Berlin on Sunday, reports tagesschau.
According to him, there are currently clear rules for the supply of weapons from Germany. And they were agreed upon with Ukraine.
The Chancellor also explained the purpose of his policy towards Ukraine, namely, preventing the outbreak of a major war.
In his opinion, the supply of German weapons for Ukraine’s self-defense is preventing the escalation of the war – a confrontation between Russia and NATO.
“Germany is the biggest fan of Ukraine in Europe,” added Scholz.
At the same time, according to him, Germany is trying to find diplomatic ways to resolve the war, actively working to resolve issues such as the protection of the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant, grain exports and prisoner exchanges.
We add that German politicians have named a possible way out of the war for Ukraine from the Russian Federation. Western intelligence services believe that the Ukrainian Armed Forces will not be able to seize the initiative at the front before the end of the year, but warned that Kyiv could be forced to cede territory through “subtle but brutal” pressure .
