The German Chancellor called the "peace initiatives" cynical. Putin, and a ceasefire is dangerous for Ukraine.
Germany does not support a ceasefire during the war in Ukraine, since it could lead to defeat our country.
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz stated this, reports the German publication ASB Zeitung.
Commenting on the recent “peace initiatives” of Russian President Vladimir Putin, which provide for the withdrawal of the Ukrainian military from the territory of the Donetsk, Lugansk, Zaporozhye and Kharkov regions, he called them cynical.
< p>“This shows how cynically the Russian authorities think and that the owner of the Kremlin is by no means going to stop the war,” the chancellor noted.
According to him, a ceasefire under current conditions could lead to the defeat of Ukraine.
“We cannot support a ceasefire, the purpose of which is the capitulation of Ukraine,” Olaf Scholz emphasized.
At the same time, the Chancellor assured his citizens that Germany would not become a participant in the war in Ukraine.
Recall that recent statements by Russian President Vladimir Putin about the alleged readiness for peace negotiations with Ukraine caused a skeptical reaction not only in Kyiv, but also among Western partners. Ukrainian and Western officials have called Putin's so-called “peace initiatives” a “profanation” and an attempt to buy time to build up military capabilities.
