German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, in a telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin, expressed concern about the situation on the Ukrainian border. This was reported by the press service of the German government, RIA Novosti reports.
It is noted that the parties talked about strengthening the Russian military presence on the Ukrainian border. Scholz told Putin about the urgent need for de-escalation.
Earlier on December 21, the Russian president phoned his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron. The heads of state discussed over the phone the security guarantees in Europe proposed by Russia, the situation in Ukraine and the possibility of holding a new summit in the “Normandy format”.
