It is impossible to ensure security in Europe without the participation of Russia. This opinion was expressed on Sunday, January 27, by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz during a speech at an extraordinary meeting of the Bundestag, RIA Novosti reports.
“In the long run, security cannot be provided against Russia,” he said. However, Scholz noted, at the moment “Russia threatens the security” of Europe.
Earlier, NATO's accusations against Russia of aggression were commented by Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova. According to her, such accusations against Moscow are unfounded. She stated that now the countries of the alliance are in a state of non-negotiability, and also stressed that they have no desire to strengthen security in Europe based on the principle of equal and indivisible security.
On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that he had decided to conduct a special operation in the Donbass. President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky announced the introduction of martial law in Ukraine and the severance of diplomatic relations with the Russian side.
