The German Chancellor stressed that no decisions on peace can be made without the participation of Ukraine and Europe.
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz called on parliament to introduce a state of emergency in connection with the events of the past 24 hours and US statements on Ukraine.
Scholz announced this during a press conference on February 13, Visegrad 24 reports.
He stated the need for an urgent adoption of a corresponding resolution that would allow for the allocation of additional funds for defense without compromising other government spending.
The Chancellor also proposed reforming the “debt brake” by excluding military spending from the calculation of the national debt in order to ensure long-term support for Ukraine and strengthen Germany's defense capability.
He emphasized that no decisions about peace can be made without the participation of Ukraine and Europe, and Ukraine's capitulation is fraught with the security of the entire continent. The peace agreement must guarantee Ukraine's sovereignty and long-term stability.
Note that the state of emergency allows the state to attract more debt than the restrictions allow.
Recall that Olaf Scholz refused to send Taurus cruise missiles to Ukraine for over a year.
