Скандал с братом Шольца: почему зарплата чиновника вызывала сомнения у депутатов

Jens Scholz is the highest paid civil servant in Schleswig-Holstein.

A scandal erupted in Germany over the salary of the chancellor's brother Olaf Scholz. Jens Scholz, 64, is a civil servant and heads the University Medical Center Schleswig-Holstein. Under his leadership, the clinic “earned” losses amounting to 100 million euros. However, despite his dubious financial “successes,” Jens Scholz received an annual bonus of 180 thousand euros. Thus, his salary was 660 thousand euros for the year.

BILD writes about this.

The chairman of the financial committee of the Schleswig-Holstein parliament, Lars Harms, who drew attention to the financial statements of the medical institution, called on local authorities to publish the terms of Jens Scholz’s contract, in particular the provision on bonuses, since such a salary makes him the highest paid civil servant in Schleswig-Holstein.

“I urge the government to inform deputies about the criteria for remuneration. After all, as representatives of the people, deputies should know how taxpayers' money is spent,” Harms said in a comment to Kieler Nachrichten.

At the same time, the hospital refused to provide journalists with information about Scholz’s bonus, saying that it was “confidential.” The Ministry of Finance, in response to a media request, limited itself to a vague answer that Jens Scholz’s contract includes a bonus that is “based on the degree of achievement of economic goals and other indicators.”

Recall that the leader of the CDU party, to which Chancellor Merkel belonged, got into a scandal after criticizing Berlin’s migration policy. Friedrich Merz said that it is easier for refugees than Germans to get to the dentist.
