Scammers deceive netizens under the guise of a WHO survey

by alex

Fraudsters launched a large-scale attack on Internet users under the guise of a survey by the World Health Organization (WHO). This was reported by the Group-IB company, which specializes in preventing cyberattacks.

Attackers have created a network of 134 fraudulent sites that mimic the WHO, offering monetary rewards for completing a fake Health Awareness Day survey.

However, instead of the promised € 200, users were redirected to dating sites, paid subscriptions and fraudulent resources.

Earlier, users of the WhatsApp messenger were warned about the spread of a new type of fraud. Users are sent messages to group chats, disguising themselves as the official update of the messenger. It offers to install the pink theme on WhatsApp and follow the installation link. After that, a program is installed on the recipient's smartphone that requires account data.
