The employees of the Security Service of Ukraine prevented the transfer of classified data on the Ukrainian air defense systems to the Russian special services.
The operation was carried out by the military counterintelligence service of the SBU in the Dnipropetrovsk region. She exposed a former official of one of the units of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (Armed Forces of Ukraine), who was collecting classified military information and planned to transfer it to the special services of the Russian Federation.
To implement his plan, the attacker was going to go to Russia, ostensibly to visit relatives. In the meantime, he kept the obtained classified data at his place of residence.
– It has been established that the former soldier secretly collected state secrets at his workplace. The attacker illegally copied classified defense information by interfering with the unit's automated information systems, & # 8212; noted in the SBU.
During the searches, the SBU officers seized classified materials concerning the organization of the control system of the air defense forces of Ukraine.
In addition, the attacker's premises were found: flash media containing secret military information, as well as communications and computer equipment that contained evidence of his criminal activities.
SBU investigators are conducting an investigation under two articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine: Part 1 of Art. 258-3 (participation in a terrorist group or organization) and Part 2 of Art. 362 (unauthorized actions with information).
The attacker will soon be informed about the suspicion and will choose a preventive measure.
