The ship with a cargo of cars was detained in the territorial waters of France.
On the night of Saturday, February 26, the French Navy detained a Russian cargo ship in the English Channel carrying cars to St. Petersburg. This was a consequence of European sanctions against Russian financial interests related to Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
According to France Bleu, the 127-meter cargo ship Baltic Leader under the Russian flag was heading from the French city of Rouen.
The Russian ship spotted a Navy patrol monitoring the passage of migrants in these waters. Together with the customs ship, the patrol boat escorted the Russian ship to the nearest port of Boulogne-sur-Mer.
