The head of the defense department assured that such situations are unacceptable for the country.
In Canada, law enforcement and intelligence will check information about the possible sale of an anti-drone system to the Canadian company Skycope Technologies aggressor, namely the Russian Technological University. Specialists are currently investigating the incident.
Canadian Defense Minister Bill Blair said this at the International Security Forum in Halifax.
According to Blair, the country takes this issue as seriously as possible because sanctions must be implemented. At the same time, the situation with the company needs to be verified and analyzed. This is exactly what law enforcement agencies will do, together with national security and intelligence services.
“And if violations of the sanctions that we have imposed are true, there are legal procedures that can be applied,” the minister emphasized.
What is known about the incident
According to the Russian portal “Agency”, the Russian Technological University acquired a radar detector for detecting SkyEye drones, manufactured by the Canadian company Skycope Technologies.
Thus, the cost of the radar was 4.5 million rubles, and its coverage area was 880 square kilometers.
Skycope itself denies the accusation. Company representatives stated that they did not sell their equipment to Russians. They suggest that the message may be false, and the possibility of potential theft of technology should also be taken into account.
Let us remind you that sanctions do not prevent the Russian Federation from purchasing weapons from Western manufacturers.
