As part of the HotChips 33 event, Samsung has revealed its upcoming plans. It turned out that the Korean tech giant will release a 512 GB DDR5 RAM module by the end of 2021.
We are talking about a “die” that will be able to achieve data transfer rates up to 7.2 Gbps, reports Wccftech. The publication also noted that DDR5 bypassed DDR4 in terms of speed, performance, volume and power.
It should be noted that the new product is intended for server solutions. At the same time, it is likely that in the near future we can expect something similar in the world of home computers. At least, according to the forecasts of experts, DDR5 will become the “mainstream” standard closer to 2023-2024.
Interestingly, Samsung representatives said 512 GB is not the limit. Perhaps in the near future we can expect the announcement of a 1 TB solution.
