Samsung smartphones will receive chips from AMD

AMD will release GPUs for Samsung smartphones. This is reported on Twitter by an insider under the nickname Ice Universe.

A popular IT blogger and insider said that Samsung has agreed with AMD, one of the leaders in the GPU and video card market, to manufacture the chip. The graphics processing unit (GPU) will be announced in June.

At the same time, the specialist clarified that the timing of the release of the chip created in partnership with Samsung and AMD is unknown. There is also no information on what characteristics the new processor will have and what devices from the Korean company will receive new equipment. Earlier, network insiders said that the release of the Exynos processor with integrated graphics from AMD is expected in the second or third quarter of the year.

SamMobile journalists who studied the Ice Universe report recalled that the previously unannounced Samsung and AMD processor was tested in benchmarks. In particular, the chip bypassed Apple's A14 Bionic processor found in current iPhones. For example, in GFXBench's Manhattan 3.1 benchmark, the unknown chip produced 181.8 frames per second, while the A14 Bionic only showed 120 fps.

At the beginning of February, AMD reported on the successful results of the last quarter. The company spoke about good financial performance, noting that due to high demand for semiconductors and other components, AMD is unable to fully meet the needs of its partners.
