Samsung has reduced the pace of production of the current flagship. This is reported by the Korean edition of The Elec, citing industry sources.
As it became known to the journalists of the edition, the production of smartphones Galaxy Note20 was reduced due to low demand. It is specified that in October Samsung planned to ship almost 900 thousand devices, but released only about 600 thousand units. According to sources, the Korean corporation has thus accepted the fact that the base smartphone of the flagship Galaxy Note 20 series has failed in sales.
According to sources, Samsung's top flagship turned out to be more popular than the base one. The production ratio of the Galaxy Note20 and Galaxy Note20 Ultra was roughly one to two. The official sales of smartphones of the Galaxy Note20 series started on August 21.
Reporters clarified that Samsung Mobile successfully closed the third quarter, earning an operating profit of 4.45 trillion won, or about four billion dollars. This figure is more than 50 percent more than in the same period in 2019. Low-cost smartphones generated most of the profits, analysts said, although the company said the financial success was driven by cost restructuring and efficient marketing spending.
The official announcement of the Galaxy Note20 and Galaxy Note20 Ultra smartphones took place on August 5. The flagships received a Dynamic AMOLED display, an Exynos 990 or Snapdragon 865+ processor, up to 12 gigabytes of RAM and up to 512 gigabytes of internal memory, a triple camera. The cost of the most affordable device in the series was 80 thousand rubles.
